Remarks:
Also known as mahimahi in parts of the Pacific Oceans, dolphinfishes are found worldwide in tropical and subtropical waters, inhabiting the surface waters where they feed upon small fishes and other preys. These swift swimmers have slender, elongate compressed body, large mouth, numerous small-size teeth in bands, and a long-based anal fin extending approximately to the tail fin. Additional physical features include dorsal fin originates on head and extends over almost the entire body length; prominent steep and high forehead; small smooth scales; and a long, deeply-forked tail fin.

Dolphinfishes can reach a maximum length of 1.5 M.

Genera and species: This family comprises one genus, Coryphaena, with two species.
