Remarks:
Dogfish sharks are distributed worldwide. Their distinctive features include small, cylindrical bodies; smooth dorsal fin spines, not grooved; similar size teeth on lower and upper jaw; upper precaudal pit present; anal fin absent; denticles skin; and caudal peduncle with a pair of lateral keels.

The Squalidae family contains two genera and about 10 species.
